This policy explains how LivestockMart Nigeria collects and uses your personal data, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. The data controller is LivestockMart Nigeria; contact: contact@livestockmart.ng.
1. Data we collect
Account details (name/business name, email, phone), your location (state and LGA), your listings and requests, your in-platform messages, support enquiries, payment confirmations processed by our payment provider, and basic usage/device data including your IP address and device/browser information. We record your IP address and the date/time of access when you register and each time you use the platform, to help detect and prevent scams, fraud and abuse.
2. Lawful basis & purpose
We process data on the basis of your consent (given at sign-up), performance of contract (running your account and subscriptions), and legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention, improving the service). We use data to operate the marketplace, connect buyers and sellers, process subscriptions, verify accounts, prevent fraud, and provide support.
3. Message monitoring
We store and may review in-platform messages to investigate fraud, abuse and disputes. You consent to this when you use messaging.
4. Sharing
Your contact details are shown to other registered users only when you choose to share them or reveal a listing's contact. We share data with service providers (e.g. payment gateways such as Paystack/Flutterwave, email/hosting), and with law enforcement or regulators where legally required. We do not sell your personal data.
5. Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in and improve the service. You can control cookies in your browser; some features may not work without them.
6. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or anonymise it.
7. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and you share information at your own risk.
8. Your rights (NDPA)
You may request access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, and request data portability. To exercise these rights, email contact@livestockmart.ng.
9. Regulator
The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) regulates data protection in Nigeria. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the NDPC.
10. Children
The Platform is for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; we will post changes here. Last updated: 2026.
Important: This is a starting template, not legal advice. Have a qualified Nigerian lawyer and, if needed, your Data Protection Officer review it before launch.
